Shiomhole’s grilling by DSS – APC
– The ruling APC has denied knowledge of the interrogation of its national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole
– The party said it is yet to receive information on the ‘rumour’
– According to the spokesperson of the APC, the matter is still considered a rumour until the APC chairman confirms that he was grilled by the SSS
The All Progressives Congress has denied claims that the party is not aware of the grilling of its national chairman Adams Oshiomhole by the State Security Services (SSS).
Speaking on the incident, the spokesperson for the APC, Lanre Issa-Onilu, said reports on the matter is still a rumour.
He also said that the party is yet to receive any information of the interrogation of the APC national chairman by the SSS.
Punch reports that Issa-Onilu said the public would be updated as soon as the party get adequate information.
“We do not have any information on this rumour. More so, the chairman is not around in the country to confirm or deny this. As soon as we have any relevant information, you’ll be updated.
I do not have this information. I know it is a scheduled personal trip he could not make last week due to the November 2 deadline for the submission of the list of candidates,” Issa-Onilu said.
It was gathered that the APC’s national chairman denied any wrong doing during the interrogation and that he did not compromise his office.
A source within the party said Oshiomhole said he was surprised that he was being interrogated over the outcome of the party primaries.
“Oshiomhole denied allegations of corruption. He also said he was even surprised to be asked questions.
“He said he had briefed the President (Muhammadu Buhari) and that the party and its leadership were carried along in all the actions he and the National Working Committee took during the exercise.
“He demanded to see if there was any petition written against him or any member of his NWC; but he was not shown any due to the sensitivity of the investigation,” t he source said.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Oshiohmole had on Monday, October 22, dismissed as untrue the reported gang-up by APC governors against his leadership of the party.
Oshiomhole in a statement alleged that conservatives within the party are ganging up to pass a vote of no-confidence in him.
He said his sin was his refusal to allow continued impunity and circumvention of due process being perpetuated in some states.
He also said he was not surprised by the gang up, as he never had the illusion that the process of reforming the party was going to be an easy one.
