Micheal Olunga’s side Kashiwa Reysol was held to a 1-1 draw by Shonan Bellmare in a Japan League Cup first semi-final on Wednesday 10th.

However, Olunga missed the action as he is on international duty with Kenya national team Harambee Stars who will take on Ethiopia in Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers at the Bahir Dar Stadium in Ethiopia.

The home side opened the scoring early in the first minute of the game through Yusuke Segawa before Kazunari Ono leveled the score for Shonan Bellmare eight minutes later.

Route to semis

Kashiwa Reysol qualified for the Japan League Cup semi-finals through away goal rule having registered two draws in both legs of quarter-finals against Ventforet Kofu. Reysol drew 1-1 in their home soil before settling for a 2-2 draw in the return leg away to Kofu, which saw them advance to the next stage.

The second leg will be played on Sunday 14th with Kashiwa needing at least a win or a draw of more than a goal to advance to the finals.
