Emre Can has been ruled out of Germany’s clash with Brazil due to a back injury and has returned to Liverpool.

The 24-year-old has trained with Germany’s national team this week but he did not feature in their 1-1 draw with Spain on Friday evening. Can traveled with the team from Dusseldorf to Berlin ahead of their fixture against Brazil on Tuesday but the midfielder left the team headquarters on Saturday and has returned to Liverpool.

The German Football Association has described Can’s injury as ‘persistent back pain’.Earlier this week, Can admitted he is still considering his options as his contract with Liverpool is due to expire at the end of the season.

Germany is also with Mesut Ozil and Thomas Muller for the match against Brazil as both players have returned to their clubs and did not travel to Berlin with the rest of the squad.
