Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has suggested that the arrival of star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang may be to blame for forward Alexandre Lacazette’s recent woes.
Speaking at a press conference following their 1-0 loss to Tottenham, Wenger said, “He (Lacazette) has gone through difficult periods before. He works hard in training, works on his finishing. I don’t know what happened, did he not touch the ball well?”
Le Professeur continued, “It can happen, it is a fraction of a second. Maybe the confidence is not at its highest because he has seen a competitor (Aubameyang) coming in for him.”
However, Wenger was also quick to highlight some positives from the Frenchman’s performance by adding, “He created two chances today. That is a quality as well. He will score goals. He is a goalscorer, he scored goals in his whole career. He will score again.”
Only time will tell whether the former Lyon star will find his footing or succumb to the pressures of the Premier League.
